I have three 2-node win2000Adv svr/App Ctr 2000 sp2
clusters, test, qa, and prod, and all servers app logs are
filling up with 1000 (W3Ctrs) and 1008 (perflib) errors.
The detail is as follows:

eventid 1000:

Unable to open the Performance sub key of the HTTP (W3)
Service. The error code returned by the registry is data
DWORD 0.

eventid 1008:

The Open Procedure for service "ACSRF" in DLL "D:\PROGRA~1
\MICROS~1\RfPerfMon.dll" failed. Performance data for
this service will not be available. Status code returned
is data DWORD 0.

*note the name and dll vary for the 1008 event.

Can someone help me out here? My app log is useless with
all this garbage. Thanks.

See the following

299059 You receive Application Center Event ID: 1008 Perflib error messages
on
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299059

Windows 2000 SP3 fixed a lot of these perf errors.

Thank You

Hi George:

We are receiving the same messages. We have a fresh install Windows 2000
Server SP4, Application Center SP2. Servers 2.8Ghz with 1GB Ram. How do we
fix this because it is filling our event log?

Ofcourse We'll have the same problem.
We have found a workaround by disabling that particular counter by a tool
from the windows2000 resourcekit. When you'll use the tool 'Exctrlst.exe'
from this resource kit then you can select 'extensible performance counters'
en deselect the checkbox 'ACSRF'. of that particular server. From now on, the
errors will not be displayed anymore in your eventlog.

Check also the article KB299059 in which the complete 'howto' describes.

Good luck!
