Is it ok to patch the MSAC instance of SQL MSDE on my servers with service
pack 4?

SP4 will not patch the Application Center MSDE instance.

setup.exe /upgradesp sqlrun INSTANCENAME=MSAC

Why will the above not patch it? I would have thought it would but my
enquiry is to whether application center will work afterwards.
