Authentication error
|
|
| captainjims 2006-08-03, 7:22 pm |
| I've got a 3 node cluster built on Windows 2003 Web Edition with SP1. I've
installed the hotfix 891330 (file versions are correct).
When I try to check App Center events I get the error "failed to
authenticate, or connect to, SQL server (0xc0140060)" for the last two nodes
(primary node doesn't seem to have this problem).
I've made sure the ACL_servername account has "logon as a batch job" rights.
The SQLAgent$MSAC service isn't started on the two nodes that are reporting
the error - I can start it manually, but it shuts down immediately stating
that it will shut down automatically if there is no work to do.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

| You might check the size of the databases and make sure its not near 2
gigs. Also you may set the following
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSAC\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLi
b
Certificate = 0 (REG_SZ)

| George,
Are you saying I should add that string? Because I don't currently have a
"Certificate" string under that key.
The database isn't near 2GB so I'm good there.
Does it matter that I'm running Web Edition? I'm reading the readme file and
it seems there are a lot of quirks when dealing with Web Edition. I've
already edited the Administration site so it's not requiring SSL.
Thanks,
Jimmy

| Yes add that registry key and reboot. It shouldn't matter about web
edition as long as all machines in the cluster are web edition.

| Hi George,
I've added that string and rebooted both members and am still getting the
same error when accessing the events. My application log on the secondary
node is also flooded with App Center errors since it can't connect properly.
Is there anything else I could try?
Thanks,
Jimmy
