Author Multiple Excel files

Years ago I created a financial spreadsheet named OURASSETS. It may have
been created under Lotus and then converted. If not, then it was definitely
created under an older version of Excel. Somehow, back then, I accidently
hit some combination of keystrokes that ended up creating three different
versions of the spreadsheet. Only one version appears in the directory,
named OURASSETS.xls. When you open it, however, the following three
versions appear:

- OURASSETS.xls: 1 [VSync]
- OURASSETS.xls: 2 [VSync]
- OURASSETS.xls: 3 [VSync]

The three versions all contain the same information, and when you update one
the update appears on all three files. The difference among the three
versions is in the appearance of the file. The first file does not show
grid lines, while the second and third versions do show the grid lines The
third version also shows page breaks and has "Page 1," "Page 2," etc written
across the pages.

I have been unsuccessful in trying to eliminate the multiple versions.
"VSync" does not appear in the Help directory.

Obviously, this is not a critical problem, but it is a nuisance when I want
to toggle back and forth between truly different Excel files. I keep
toggling to a different version of the same file. Do you have any
suggestions for how to remove the extra versions?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
