Hi,

I'm trying to workout if application center is the solution i need.

Here is my situation: We have a couple of web servers each with a couple of
hundred sites on, each site uses the same base software. I want to use AC2K
to update all the sites on both servers from one master copy of our software.
Is that posiible or does the master AS2K have to have a copy of each of our
clients sites/applications and configuration.

Also, what can AC2K doing regarding updating databases?

Thanks

Robert

application center replication does not run installation packages. SMS is
the only product I know of which can do this for you.

Sunan

I dont think you understand. I did not say anything about installation
packages.

The web servers host asp.net apps, each app is a copy of the same software
with a slightly different configuration. When I release a new version or a
hotfix, I have to copy the files into a couple of hundred locations on each
server! That is why I'm looking into AC2K - (Application Center 2000, if you
hadnt guessd)

I would like to be able to update one single location (a Master/Controller)
and then AC2K will update all our clients sites on our web servers. Is this
possible?

If all we are talking about are web applications, you update the controller
and replication will push all of the new files, metabase setting etc to the
member servers to make them look just like the controller. It will also
deploy Com+ appliations.

However any msi files not associated with Com+ apps or exe setup programs,
will be copied but not run on the member.

Simple solution:

Create a directory where you drop your update and create a batch file using
Robocopy to update each site with the new code. This should work great, we
use robocopy for our pushes to production on a weekly basis.

hope this helps,
Anthony
