Application Center Usage - backing up XP home edition

I hope I have found the right people to ask for help. I
have been arround the houses trying to find what
Microsoft made sound easy.

I am trying to back up my compter, XP home edition was
already installed when I bought it. The only information
I can see re how install backup is using a CD-ROM, which
I do not have.

You may be able to tell I am a novice, so if anyone can
help please make it very simple.
