Author newbie question, router, apache and web browsing

Hi,
I'm wanting to setup an apache server, but I'm not sure if I need one
or two static ip's.
I want to setup two computers and a firewall router.
The router does DHCP and port forwarding.
One PC will run the apache server.
The 2nd PC will serve as my desktop.
The router keeps the static ip.
Do I just need to route the HTTP and FTP ports to the apache server and
if I do so, will I still be able to use my browser on the other
computer?
My provider charges per static IP. They are also a bit proud when it
comes to making changes. I'm hoping to get the count correct up front.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

What you need to do is give your Linux box a static internal IP.

To do this you need the change the IP range that your router
can assign via DHCP and give your Linux box an IP outside of that
range. Then simply open/forward/pin hole the HTTPd and FTPd ports
to the linux box.

My router is setup like this....

DHCP range = xxx.xxx.xxx.2 to xxx.xxx.xxx.200

My linux box's IP is xxx.xxx.xxx201

The router can only assign IP's between 2 and 200 which means
when the DCHP leases of the are up, regardless of how many
other PC's link into the LAN, the linux box always has the same IP
and I don't need to reconfig the router each time the linux box's IP
would change under DHCP

Hope this helps
Aaron
