Hi

..htaccess allows directory level authentication in Apache, but how is
file level authentication set?

eg a directory contains numerous digital resources, customers buy
download rights to some of these. Can this be achieved without putting
each resource in a separate directory?

Thanks

Take a look at <http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/core.html#files>.
