Author LDAP authentication with Apache on Solaris8

Hello!

I would like to setup an Apache webserver on a Solaris8 machine, that
uses LDAP to authenticate the users. My users are stored in a Netscape
Directory Server.

Is this possible?
Do I have to use any plugins to Apache or is it built in
functionallity?
If it is not built in, what plugin to use and do I have to compile the
source or is it available as a binary?

How to configure?

I would like to be able to get the userid of the person that have
logged in through request.getRemoteUser() method call.

I guess I will have to use Tomcat as servletcontainer for Apache to
execute servlets!?

/Erik
