We run PERL scripts under mod_perl. A programming error which sends a
process into an infinite loop can tie up CPU resources, if unnoticed,
for a long time.

Is there an Apache config option that will automatically send a kill
to an httpd process if the process or script exceeds some time
threshold (or maybe a % of CPU)? I don't think "Timeout" has the same
meaning as what I really want. Our scripts usually run in just a few
seconds or less. Also, a normal httpd process under mod_perl can hang
around for some time -- how can I trap the errant runaway train only?

Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
