I'm no expert at apache, and I need to setup Apache's suexec. Unfortunately
several searches on the internet, as well as reading apache 2.0.x
documentation, yielded no information that I could actually use. It was
all just explanations of what suexec is and does. What I need is an
example of how to set up suexec so that I can run my php scripts in my user
accounts on Debian Sarge.

Does anyone here know of any good references to show me how to setup suexec?
Or provide any examples of its configuration and usage?

Thank you for your time.

Not sure what you looked at, but try the following link. It
does have quite a bit of info how to set it up.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/suexec.html

Hope that helps.
Best regards!

I whole-heartedly agree with the original poster. I have read the Apache documentation several times and I still don't get how to do this. I need an example badly! The docs tell you all about suexec without actually telling you HOW to do it. And, in some instances where it does tell you how, it is only in generalities. Not being an apache or Linux expert, I really need something that says "Type THIS at the command line." Sorry if that makes me an idiot... So, after reading the docs over and over again, I am still left wondering:

What are the commands I use to see if suexec is running?
What exactly do I do to suexec-enable a program?

Keep in mind that I am not running virtual hosts -- I know some of the instructions discuss the virtual hosts directives.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jim
