Author newbie - cgi - what I got

Now that I have my first CGI script (in c++) running
with Apache-2.0 on RH-WS-3 and triggered via
DirectoryIndex, I would like to see what triggered it.
There are environment variables that provide parts of
it, but I would like to see the whole application layer
string as read from the socket in one piece. Of course,
I could use pcap and related things, but that seems
excessive in view of the fact that Apache must have
what I want. Advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mike.
