Hello, I'm getting a 403 forbidden error on each page of my website.
The site is being hosted by 1and1.com, and the url is
http://www.j1m.net. The index.html file is present, and I've tried
setting a variety of permissions - everything from 655 to 777 on it,
and none will work. Similarly, my nifty cycling blog,
http://www.j1m.net/cycling isn't coming up, either. Still the same 403
forbidden.

Because I'm on 1and1.com, I don't have access to the error logs. I've
tried setting a base .htaccess file, but that didn't help. I've since
removed the .htaccess file.

If it means anything, I recently deleted two subdomains. I'm not so
experienced with these kind of errors . . . can anyone help me
troubleshoot? Thanks.

PS: Here is a listing of what I have in my / directory:

cycling favicon.ico gallery2 logs xbel.xml dir.php g2data
index.html subrosa

Again, nothing I try seems to abate the problem. All of this came
about when I was trying to install wordpress. ??

Thanks for your help.

Jim
