I'm running Apache 2.0.48 on WinXP Home Edition. I am on cable (static IP).
I have a registered domain (www.arview.com), hosted on my system, which
works when I run Abyss Web Server, but not Apache. I've read through the
httpd.conf until my eyes have crossed and haven't found anything. I
downloaded the MSI, which took me through the nice easy steps and filled it
all out properly. I'm also running McAfee Personal Firewall, with Apache
given full access to the web. Like I said, the only thing I change is which
web server I'm using and all of a sudden, it works. (By, "it works," I mean,
it shows me my web pages.)

Apache doesn't give any errors, but does give "notices" which just say "the
server was restarted" blah blah blah. Nothing to tell me if it's working or
not. It says it's connected and that everything's fine. It just won't pull
up the pages. It finally times out. Any suggestions? Need more information?
I'll be happy to provide it.

I'd really prefer to run Apache. Open Source has always had a special place
in my heart. I'd dump WinXP for Linux in a heartbeat if I could, but at this
point, that's not possible.

BTW, I used to run Apache on a Linux box "back in the day," and it was a
snap. Don't know why it's causing problems with Windows. (Actually, it's
probably more likely that Windows is causing Apache problems, but
whatever...)

Thanks for the help,
Tim

Is it running on port 80 (can you telnet to it)? Is your IP address
12.218.72.166?

Sorry about that. I was probably between servers when you tried it. It's
back on Apache now. I'll have to have the web pages back up in a few hours
though. Thanks for your help.

What version of McAfee Firewall do you have? If you have version 7 odds are
that Apache 2.0.xx will not work. It does work with version 8 though.
