Dear all,

I'm Yong-Kwang, and I'm an undergraduate at the School of Computing,
the National university of Singapore. As part of my Honors year thesis
on empirical research on the success of Open Source projects, I'm
collecting opinions from Open Source developers to determine if there
are some critical success factors in explaining the success of open
source projects and to explain why some other projects fail to take
off.

I've so far collected data from 2 other Open Source projects, Linux and
MySQL and I hope that I can include Apache in my study as well, given
sufficient responses from the Apache HTTP Server project. Therefore, I
would like to solicit your assistance in participating in my survey,
and also to help inform other Apache developers of my survey.

I hope that you will participate in my survey out of goodwill. As a
student doing academic research, I'm not paid nor am I currently
allocated any research funds. As such, I would not be able to promise
any monetary returns for your participation. However, upon the
successful completion of my project, I can attempt to negotiate with my
supervisor for a donation to the Apache Foundation to return the
goodwill and favor from the Apache developers who support the study by
participating in the survey.

Lastly, I hope that you will participate in my survey which should take
about 15 minutes of your time. It can be accessed at:
http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~gohyongk/apache_survey.html

Thank you very much and I wish you and the Apache Foundation all the
best.

Sincerely,
Goh, Yong Kwang
