Obviously, this is a newbie question.

I've installed 2.0.53 on my XP Home system. I looked thru
the configuration files, I'll cover the settings below.

When I enter http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/ the
browser acts like its loading a page, but the result is
always blank. The message in the footer is "done" so it
thinks it's working. I've pointed the browser to some simple
html pages on my system, with the same results.

I've checked the process table, and apache is running. The
error log looks clean, just startup and shutdown messages.

I attempted to telnet to localhost 80, expecting to see
some HTML code come through, but the telnet session shuts
down after a few seconds.

Configuration stuff:

I'm running apache in the console window, not as a service
that starts when the system does. But, like I said, it is
running when I'm doing all this.

I'm using port 80

Also, I have Norton Anti-virus running. I'm not sure if this
is relevant.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have just had the same problem and it was Norton personal firewall
preventing it

Open Norton and go to personal firewall, configure, networking and add
address 127.0.0.1 it should work then.
