Hey, I'm using apache 2.0.58, and I'm new to web developing. I'm
running a server off my machine, but when changes are made to the
files, it takes a few hours until proper changes are noticed in the
directory. For example, I'm using a Java applet, but if I remove the
java applet, the page still runs fine - with the Java applet in it! Yet
the file where the Java applet is will not show up on the directory. Or
if I update a webpage, the old version is visible for a few hours - I
take it this isn't normal? Does anyone know what my issue may be? I'm
not using IIS, I've cleared out temporary internet files, any ideas?

Cheers,

Simon

Java applets are usually rendered on the client side and not on the server.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. In this situation I'm both the
server and the client (as it's just a local server hosted at
localhost), but it's the same with all files, such as html files as
well as .class files.

Just to clarify, if I have a webpage and i change the content of
that webpage, when I goto open it via the localhost directory, it
appears unchanged, although the date says it will have been changed. If
I create a new page though and write stuff in it, then it appears
instantly - it's as if there's some back log being created, thus my
attempt to clear temporary net files.

All help is very much appreciated.

try hitting the refresh button on your browser, if that works then you
may just need to set IE to check for new content on every visit to the
site [

Tools
Internet Options

Temporary Internet Files
[
Settings
]

check "every visit to the page" and click apply - ok

restart IE and try again, failing that post your apache.conf file up
here so we check theres no problem in there.
