Author 'date' command freezes windows!

Well, explain this if you can...

On Mandrake 10, if I use the command 'date' to set the system date and
time, KDE windows become locked on screen and can't be dragged around.
What on earth could be the connection here?

On or about the same topic, Wednesday, using md 10 oe.

I swaped three system clocks to GMT/UTC using Mandrake Control Center.
One time one system seemed to hang and screen went blank when I clicked OK.
Was unable to recreate the event. What did happen was you have to wait
while the time service is bounced if you have enabled it.

Glad I was trimming out my sig before I had a chance to get my foot in
my mouth.

Nice guess, Never would have thought about that. But, Tux would have
started flying across the screen.

Now that I think about it, I did not check the monitor lights to see
if the CRT went into power saving mode before I was moving the mouse
and hitting keys.
