There was a big update of cifs vfs in 2.6.6, which fixed a couple of is=
sues
that could affect memory usage as you describe. I have not produced a=

patch to go from 2.6.4 to current version of cifs vfs but there are onl=
y
two to three minor global kernel changes that would have to be changed =
so
it is doable.
