| Greetings,
running Samba 3.0.4 on Fedora Core 1, I encountered the following
problem: I cannot get Point and Print to work for Windows 98
clients, while it works fine for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
I have been able to set the device mode for Windows 2000 and Windows
XP using the procedure detailed here:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man....html#id2553332
but when attempting the same for a Windows 98 client, I see no Printers
folder when connecting to the Samba server. Attempting the same with
the same domain user from a Windows NT 4 server works, on the other
hand. From the Windows 98 client "net use //server/print$" works and I
can see from the Samba logs that it connects with the Unix user
configured as printer admin in smb.conf.
Configuration notes:
- not using winbindd;
- using smbusers, worked around bug #1279;
- the Samba server and both clients are domain members;
- the Windows 98 client works with file shares on the Samba server.
What am I missing, and what should I look into ?
Thank you in advance,
Davide Bolcioni
