Hi,

Can anyone suggest a 56k Internal Modem chipset that works well with Linux?

Thanks.

I have a Conexant softmodem. It works with a driver from Linuxant, which
only costs a minimal amount. Others might work "off the shelf." I note
that Mandrake10 claims to configure "winmodems", but didn't find mine. See
http://www.linmodems.org.

HTH,

Doug.

I recently bought a PC that came with an Intel 536EP winmodem. I thought
it would remain unused forever, but after downloading and installing the
appropriate drivers for Linux from Intel's site, the modem has worked
flawlessly.
