Hi - I'm running FC5. Can someone recommend a joystick (USB) that runs
out of the box?

TIA

USB joysticks are all supposed to follow the HID standards. Every USB
joystick I've seen works just fine. Plug it in, wait for udev to pick
it up, point your joystick-using app at /dev/input/js0 , no problem. If
you're looking for a brand name, Gravis joysticks are pretty well-built
IME.

Note that "works just fine" means "all buttons, hats, and axes
supported". Other parts of the joystick, like force feedback, may not
work properly because there isn't a published standard like HID for how
those things are supposed to work. HTH,
