Author Need a recommendation for a CoreDuo mobo (with ecc support)

I could use a recommendation for a coreduo mobo that supports ecc ram
(and for the ram itself).

Requirements:
0. must be rock solid
1. low power dual core or ht intel cpu
2. 100% passively cooled
3. ecc support
4. 2-3 eide
5. a few sata
6. 2-3 pci for older pci cards
7. Must have enough space around cpu socket to accomodate passive cpu
cooler

Nice to haves:
working ethernet and sound on board.
firewire on board (does not have to work in linux since no decent
sorfware for
video editing).
working on board video for x11 (2d, don't want buggy closed source
drivers on
that machine)

I saw an announcement that 965 based boards have an oss x11 driver paid
for by Intel.
Any luck with 975 boards?

Could use a recommendation for ram, cpu, cooler and pcie graphics card
if
on board video is not a good idea. For a quiet PSU too.
I have an ATX case :^)

Thank you.

Too early to tell for the intel Core Duo architecture.

All the HT intel cpus are only the old netburst architecture (P4) cpus
and certainly aren't low power. For low power you can go for a low end
Core Duo 2 cpu or an AMD64 - any reason why it has to be an intel cpu?
I know the new Core Duo 2 cpus are flavour of the moment, but AMD64 are
still very capable cpus with proven stability.

I'm not sure that's at all possbile with any standard desktop cpu. You
have to have some sort of fan either attached to the cpu or very near
to it.

Depends on mobo and chipset, but possible.

4, 5 & 6 are more or less std these days.

As yet their are no 975 chipsets with integrated graphics.

Yes. Poor experience with Athlons. Maybe AMDs are better now,
but I'm yet to see a flaky intel product. Maybe that will change with
Core Duo?
How does power consumption compare between CoreDuo and CoreDuo 2?

I guess I might wait a bit longer then.
Thought CoreDuo is Pentium M based which in turn is Pentium III based
and both of the latter two were very good cpus.

Hmm, you sure Quiet Tower has a fan ? It looked large when I checked at
the local
store last week so I wonder about clearance and if the mobo can support
the extra weight.

Right. So I need to know which mobos do support it.

I checked and mostly saw 2-3 pci and 3 or so 1x pci-e.
I have little to no use for 1x pci express slots because I don;t think
anyone bothers to make any cards in that format.

Is there a pci or pci-e Intel card that is supported by the same driver
that intel just shipped for 965? I definitely do not want an nvidia
card.

A lot of Conroe boards are coming with only 1 IDE (PATA) port.
