nmap + nessus?
If you get on well with these, you might like to consider implementing OS
SIM <http://www.ossim.net> which correlates the results of previously-run
nessus scans with current snort alerts, boosting the priority of those
alerts which are applicable to the services and packages found by nessus.
Be warned though; OS SIM requires extensive integration with a number of
packages.
