DriveCrypt causes Vista to crash on dismount

Pretty much as the subject says. Is this just me or a general problem?
Everything runs fine when I create, mount or use a container file but
after a dismount Vista will crash very soon after. No warning or error
- nothing. The machine does a complete reboot.

I can confirm the same thing (latest version DriveCrypt 4.61 / Windows
Vista Ultimate).

BTW: If you want to see a blue screen instead of instant reboot, check
this:

I've also seen serious performance problems when writing to DC encrypted
partitions under Vista.

SecurStar's support team has been informed about this. I hope they can
find something out.

What does the blue screen say ?

There are many, many people using Vista DC4.61 without a problem....

Of course if there is a bug, we will investigate the problem. However
all our Vista setups seem to work perfectly well, and that includes
speed.

Out of interest, try doing something which keeps the disk in use, for
example a document open on the encrypted drive, which will then refuse
a "normal" dismount, and would require a brutal dismount. Do the
brutal dismout, and see if the crash happens then ? The way such a
dismount happens is very different.

Despite tests I have not seen this. However there was a problem with
DCPP wich was fixed for vista32, which may be related to this.

We have been looking into this, but despite a lot of testing on
various hardware configurations, we can find no problem. Personally I
blame the creators of the operating system for inconsistencies,
however that is just my opinion, but one I am entitled to express.

Compared with XP I think Vista is a backward step. User Account
control has its uses, and the new winlogon scheme is good, with its
"credential providers" but other than that I can think of very little
to praise it for. It's slow, cumbersome and hard to understand.

I'll try what you suggested in the next day or two. It's quite
possible this is a general problem with Vista as I've read other
reporting problems with Vista's handling of virtual drives.

It is a bit more stable when I do a forced dismount (doesn't crash as
often) but the problem is still there. The crash occurrs around 2 mins
after the dismount.
