Hi,
I am looking for a backup program simple like Backup4all but with a better
encryption for data than a zip file.

Someone can suggest me some program to try ?

Bye
thanks for the help

Hi Ron,
Well in my opinion the password protection feature of the zip file offers a
good protection too. I mean if you choose a password formed out of several
characters (above 10) it's very unlikely to expose your data, at least not
more than with a 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption.

Ever seen one of the amazingly effective ZIPfile password crackers?
Apparently not

Yes i agree. Backup4all is perfert for a home use, it is fast, simple but i
don't understand why they have not used a better encrytion for the backup
files. For me this is a weak point of the program.

Probably because encryption is not normally a required part of
backing up.

I don't think so, usually you backup personal data too and for me is
important that this data is protect and not usable from other person so
encryption is the best solution.

Options:

1) Use a PGPDisk volume small enough to fit on a DVD-R,
backup your files to that PGP disk and periodically
archive the volume off to DVD-R.

2) Use tar + bzip2 + gpg or a command-line zip tool +
gpg. Just be doubly and triply sure that you backup
your secret keys and write down the passphrases needed
to unlock those secret keys. Keep at least 2 copies of
your keyring plus passphrases in an off-site, secure
location like a bank vault.
