Iomega Backup with REV drive
|

| I am testing out these REV drives from Iomega and so far the drive and media
seem great.
However, the supplied software, Iomega Backup, doesn't seem to work well. I
am running it on
an XP Pro machine. I have downloaded the latest version of the software.
It will start to backup
and then it will just hang and not do anything. I have tried this on 2
different computers.
NTBackup works fine with it, however, so i am leaning towards using that
instead of the supplied software, but
you would think they would provide you with a decent piece of software.
Anyone else have this problem?

| I just got one but havn't installed it as yet. A couple of interesting
things from iomega, they have an autoloader REV bundled with Arcserve and
just announced a Pro starter kit with a USB REV drive, 6 disks and a server
version of Yosemite Tapeware. They are targeting the tape market; just hope
they don't screw up the single user market with their software bundle. Try
some of the freeware or trial ware products in this forum if you can't get
satisfaction from iomega. Hey IOMEGA, you monitoring this forum, you should
be!!!

| Having been used to more sophisticated backup programs, I didn't test Iomega
Backup. I am using Norton Ghost 9 with no problems - the only oddity is
that I have to do a network backup on a local machine (it won't allow direct
backup by pathname to the Rev drive since the Rev drives tells the system
it's a CD drive and Ghost wants to treat it like a CD which it isn't). I
also use Backup MyPC 5.0 with no problems.
