Hello!

Though that english is not my mother tongue, I will try to explain my
problem :

I am on XP pro that I have partitioned (with "Partition Expert" )
Drive1 "C": NTFS and "F": FAT32
Drive 2 ...............and so on
Drive3.extern.......and so on

The trouble comes from Drive 1 "F" which is not recognised by Ghost 9 and
I see no obvious reason for it

Can anyone give me a clue ? Thanking you in advance,

Youyou.

Probably Ghost 9 (that leans on the v2i technology introduced by PowerQuest)
runs into an error in the partition table referring to the F: drive. Run, to
see if I am right, the PartInNT.exe tool which is in the SUPPORT folder on
the Ghost 9 progam CD...(Copy tye contents to the clipbaord (see button) and
paste the contents into Notepad...

Thank you answering me.

I tried to find the < PartInNT.exe tool which is the SUPPORT folder (?) on
the Ghost 9 program CD>, without success ! Where does-it hide itself ???

\SUPPORT\PartInNT.exe\
Should be there unless...

Find it also in the installation folder (C:\..\Norton Ghost\..) on the HDD,
it should be there, or perform a global search starting from there...

Yes,thank you, I found the URL. I pressed the button, copied it to
the Clipboard, and tried to paste it into Notepad. The Notepad/bloc-notes
window came up with the message in french : "Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier
C:\unzipped\PartInNT...... verifier qu'un disque est présent dans le lecteur
spécifié. "

Which disk are they talking about ? "F" disk is in the list of my
computer's hard disks drives and so is "M" in an external drive which
receives the back-ups, such as : M:\C_unité.v2i......
M:\G_unité.v2i......M:\H_unité.v2i ....and where, of course "F" is missing
!...... Where is the catch ? Can you help me again ? ;-( Youyou.

I guess your French Windows or Notepad itself is kinda acting up attempting
to save the text on a drive that is in a non-ready state?
Run PartInNT.exe again, this time click on the "Save as" buitton and save
the results as "info.txt".
Now find the file "info.txt", double click on it and see what the entry for
the F: drive looks like...upload the file and or post a link of the contents
of the file.

Idid run PartInNT.exe again, clicked the "Save as" button and found myself
with a window "Partitioninfo" a set of 8 pages that I printed. They show
several messages of errors such as : disk1 "error #109: partition ends after
end of disk. ucEndCylinder(19456) must be less than 16709" or disk 3 "error
#108 : partition did'nt end on cylinder boundary. ucEndSector expected to be
63 not 50 " (?)

In your last message you ended it by " upload the file and or POST a link of
the contents of the file " What do you mean ?

Now, I think I've" reached my level of incompetence", and I would quite
understand if you stopped trying to help me.

Should not I reconsider the all thing, and erase all the saved partitions,
unload and reload Ghost 9 and try to start again ?

I tried the help of Ghost but I did not go anywhere !

Many thanks anyway :-) Youyou.

Errors found in the disk's partition table in the disk's master boot record!

Upload the file to a location on the web and reply to this posting with the
appropriate link pointing to the web location of the file.
If you have no webspace available past the file contents here as a reply to
this posting

No errors #108 and #109 can be fixed...

Ghost is Symantec so it is dumb! ;-)
With the PowerQuest experience we should be able to appy the required
fixes...

I am sorry, but are you answering my question ? with "NO", you don't have to
start again , errors #108 and #109 CAN be fixed or errors -----, CAN'T be
fixed (?)

XP is not able to "see" the end of the F: partition. Drive F: causes the
problem for the end cylinder exceeds the 131 GB barrier
XP detects only 16709 cylinders (131,069.4 MB), the phsyical size of the
drive exceeds the supported disk size by XP when 48 bit LBA is not yet
enabled.

Solution: Enable 48 bit LBA: Please, visit
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;303013 and apply the
fix. See also http://www.48bitlba.com/winxp.htm

NOTE: Disk 3 shows alignment errors raising errors #108 (end sectors are not
set to 63, end sectors are set to 50)...
