Veritas BENT 8.6 file restore failure
|
|
|
| Hi,
Hoping someone out there can help me. Having trouble restoringa large
file to NT using BENT 8.6 rev 3878. The restore job gets to 99% ,
hangs then fails. The only errors in the logs are
error writing to file \
error writing file data
There were no errors in the log of the backup I'm trying to restore
from.
HAve tried all different combinations of restores, checking/unchecking
security/tree, redirection to different folder, different servers, all
fail. Have tried restoring different backups of the same file - some
work, some fail with the same error. About the only influencingfactor
on restore success seems to be the size of the file - the failures
occur with files about/above 165/170 GB. Has anybody come across this
before? Any ideas? Is it a limitation in BENT or NT? Any help much
appreciated, cos Sod's law it's the failing one that the user wants
restored.
TIA
Gary

| Sorry Gary, no answers but we have the same problem our restores in BE 9.0. We get to 25/30GB in a restore and then it dies with an "Error writing file data" and BE error 57478 in the Windows Event Log.
Though I have successfully restore big files to an IDE HDD it fails when restoring to RAID. Strange and annoying.
What kind of system are you restoring to?
Windows NT with RAID server?
Try running CHKDSK on the HDD in question for starters. |
