Hello

I have Veritas Backup Exec 8.6. Rev 3808
In the last days, I have the problem, that the bengine.exe use 100% of the
CPU, but nothing happens.
0 bytes written.
But this is only at one drive (partition). The other drives (partitions)
works well.

I have searched at Veritas Support and the Support Forum, but can't find a
solution.
I searched witch Google, but nothing too.

Has anybody an idea ?

I've had this problem with Veritas. In my case is was being caused by
sending e-mail on job success. I turned off e-mail notifications and
the problem went away.

I have a couple of question for you on this.

1.) What build of BE 8.6?

2.) What OS?

3.) What type of drive (SCSI or Fibre)?

4.) What changes to the system took place prior to the error?

5.) Have you tried disabling the drive in BE to see if the problem
goes away?

I have encountered SEVERAL 100% CPU issues with BE, so I can probably
help you narrow it down. I think the next step is to try disabling the
drive to see what happens. If you have done this with no change, then
I would like to get catalog information from you - location, directory
size. Also, is it the drive, or perhaps the tape? I had a tape that
kept taking my entire fibre library offline! It sounds weird, but once
I yanked the tape, the problem went away!

Email me at mkbellows@adelphia.net and let me see what I can do to
assist you.
