Drive Image 7, XP Pro and the Blue Screen

| I created an image of my internal hard drive to an external USB 2 drive with
no problem. When I turned the computer off and then on later I got the blue
screen telling me some error was potentially gonna harm the computer and
system was memory dumping then turning off.
I turned off the system and on again and it seemed OK. The next time I
created a back up image I got the same problem upon turning system off then
on. Note: I am not doing a restore at this point. I am frightened it will
now work.
My internal drive is a single partition 120 Gig, but I am only using 15Gig
of it. I am creating the image to an external 80 Gig USB 2.0.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the blue screen?
Also, if I did a restore, do I need to reactivate XP?

Run a CHKDSK /R from the Recovery Console (Repair option on the XP CD)
Also run a
fixboot
fixmbr
and exit by entering
exit
