Help please folks.

Ghost 2001 on my W98SE desktop will quite happily clone a 20GB partition
with say 5GB used to a 6GB HDD.
If I try the same thing with Drive Image 7 on my XP laptop it tells me the
drive isn't big enough to hold the data.
In this case the 20Gb has 5317 MB used and the other HDD is nominal 6GB in a
USB(1.1) enclosure.
Do the drives have to be identical for cloning to work?

Saving an image works OK but slowly.

Am I missing something or is this just the way things are?

Thanks in advance.

Michael,

Thanks for response.

I already have downloaded and applied 7.03 update from Symantec site.
Interestingly the About DI on Help refers to 7.0 ( Version 2.0.3.402)
When installing 7.03 the ReadMe file was for 7.03
Perhaps the .0.3 in the version is the clue?

Defrag utility reckoned I didn't need to defrag but I did it anyway.
Just needed a bit of patience :-))
DI still gives message :-
Unable to update settings.
The selected destination is too small to hold the data.
The parameter is incorrect.

Regards
Henry ( to be less anonymous!)

To answer my own question!
I took up the subject with Symantec and got very rapid replies.
The conclusion is that with Drive Image 7 you can only 'clone' or copy to
another drive/partition that is exactly the same size or larger.
Some careful work with partitioning will improve the range of possibilities.
Also you can't clone over a network.

Cheers

Henry
