| Hello,
I try to replace the SCSI HP tapedrive in our HP Netserver60. That drive
gave more and more trouble, so I bought a secondhand but unused Seagate
drive that takes the same tapes. (20GB travan) This is an IDE drive, but
that should not be a problem.
The manual is not really clear to me, but I installed the software, mounted
the drive, but the software (tapeware) won't start because of error 25,
service not found. The tapeware service is running though. Then I found out
that on the other CD that came with the drive was a hardware driver. The
manual does not mention that, but I installed it, no luck. Same result. The
built in backup software of NT sees the driver and the drive, but says it is
not responding.
Somewhere I found that this tapeware was not suitable for NT server. Ok,
that can be true, but what software should I use then? And will that be
working? Because the diagnostic software does not see the drive either.
The drive could be defective, but is was still in it's protective cover, and
it was still sealed. So I guess that is not likely.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me? I really would like to get this to
work, because now we are not making backups, and although we never needed a
backup in years, one can never know.....
