How do I create a restore cd/dvd lile the ones that come with new computers???

| Hello to the group,
I have been trying to create a bootable cd/dvd (probably DVD or several)
that I can image my current HDD and in the event of a failure I put disk "1"
in turn on the system and it boots up, formats the drive and reloads
everything as it was so I effectively would not be able to tell the
difference. Currently I'm running Windows 2000 pro on a 3.2 GHz Intel with 1
g of ram. It also has a CDRW and also a DVDRW, floppy.
I have looked at several backup software packages (power quest drive image,
and ghost) and the reason I was looking at PQDI was I just rebuilt an old
Compaq laptop and the Restore CD had this type of configuration. I imagine
there will have to be some type of scripts to get it to format and partition
the drive but I really don't know. So I'm fielding the question to the
group.

Ghost will do this I believe, but it wont't make the image while in windows. Drive image is a possibitlity.
