| Anyone know why Samba and Drive Image 7.03 don't cooperate?
I've installed Drive Image 7.03 on a couple of Windows XP Pro SP2
systems, then successfully (according to DI7) backed up the system
partitions to my Samba server - which BTW has been running in the
basement for years, serving files to a variety of Windows operating
systems with no issues.
However, when I attempt to restore backups from the Samba server using
PQRE (Drive Image's CD-bootable recovery environment), it allows me to
browse to the backup file (so the problem is not file sharing or
permissions), but then claims the file does not exist or is not a valid
image file - and refuses to proceed.
If tell DI7 to backup to a 'real' Windows system, then copy the backup
file to the same location and filename on the Samba server, restore from
Samba using PQRE works - i.e. Drive Image 7.03 can backup to Windows and
restore from Samba, but it can't backup to and restore from Samba.
I've tried messing with numerous Samba configuration parameters, but
have not seen any change in symptoms.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
TIA
Sunny
