On my home LAN Ghost 9 wont see or backup drives I have mappped to my main
PC form other PCs on the home net. Ghost 2003 does do this.

Am I missing something? Did the capability get dropped in the newer release
from version 2003 to version 9.

Is there a way to backup mappped drives?

thanks

Norton Ghost 9, presented as a 1 user license desktop (home) product is able
to only backup/copy the local volumes of the computer on which it is
installed.
Can you elaborate on your statement that such is possible with Norton Ghost
2003? I assume that you are referring to the source disks/volumes with your
statement: "On my home LAN Ghost 9 wont see or backup drives I have mappped
to my main PC form other PCs on the home net."

Afaik, Norton Ghost 2003 will also only map the local drives as the drives
to be backed up/copy...

I can confirm jtsnow's advice that Ghost 2003 will backup to
networked/mapped drives. I have been backing up my laptop HDD via
WiFi to my desktop connected via ethernet without any problems at all
using Ghost 2003.

Howdy,

There seems to be some confusion with regard to "backing up
to" a mapped drive and "backing up a" mapped drive.

When the OP wrote "On my home LAN Ghost 9 wont see or backup
drives I have mappped to my main PC form other PCs on the
home net. Ghost 2003 does do this." I understood that to
mean that Ghost 2003 would back up files that resided on
other systems that were mapped to the system on which Ghost
was running.

I will add that AFAIK, that is not true, that is, I believe
that Ghost 2003 will create an image only of the drives that
were on (not mapped to) the system on which it ran. That
image can be written to any location locally, or on the net.

All the best,

Clarification understood.
As I said in my earlier post, I can only verify that Ghost 2003 will
backup to mapped/networked drives. I have never tried to backup a
networked drive on another computer to my local drive from my system -
and I can't even check it now as I've given my desktop system to the
grandkids and the other two laptops on my network are currently on
their way to Italy. But I expect that it wouldn't work - unless the
other computer had Ghost and it backed up to a mapped/networked drive
on my computer.
