Tape backup unusable when cleaning is required.

I have a problem with Windows 2000/2003 and Exabyte VXA-2 tape units
that makes Windows Removable Storage that does not recognise any
cassette in the tape drive IF the drive needs cleaning.

Anyone has this problem with any other OS ou Tape backup unit?
