Author Need backup advice on archiving and pruning old files...

I am using a simple backup strategy for my home computer: I mirror the
contents of the "My Documents" folder to an external USB hard drive
using Second Copy 2000. I have Second Copy configured to archive one
copy of any file deleted in the synchronization process, so I always
have an exact mirror of My Documents along with a backup copy of all
deleted files just in case. The folder with the archived deletions, of
course, grows larger as time passes. I would like to know if there is
any software or method that would alow me to comb though the archive
folder for older files (say, more than one year old) and move (not
copy) these files WITH COMPRESSION and PRESERVING DIRECTORY STRUCTURE
to, preferably, a removable storage medium, such as DVD. In other
words, filter by file date, move to target, delete from source,
preserve directory structure, compress, and write to removable medium.
Is this too much to ask? Thanks.
