| I will try to explain my problem:
I currently only have one harddrive that currently is divided into 2
partitions. I would like to find a software that allows me to create a
'true' image of a partition not just the whole disk. (ie including all the
system data).I want to be able to format one of my partitions and then
restore my system from the created backup file.
Does anyone know of such a program? If you do please help!

ghost 2002 will allow you to image file or clone your system
partition to another partition, but it really makes no sense
to do it on the same drive as the system partition since if
that drive fails you lose both the system partition and the
image.

Hi Stefan. Why would you want to image C to D, Format, then put D back on to
C ?.
You`ll just end up where you started.
best wishes..OJ

what I mean is: the c partition is my working partition and d is my storage
partition, so I would like to create a clone of my c drive in an image file
and store it on d. I tend to install a lot of shareware and sometimes I need
a clean install. It would be good if I could have the clean install in an
image file so I don't have to install operatingsystem and software
everytime.

| Hello Stefan! I recommend you to try Paragon's Exact Image. I've used
Acronis' True image before, but moved to this staff. The thing is that
with EI you can store an image of a partition not only on your hard
drive, but burn it to DVD and make it bootable. So, in case of serious
crash and total data loss you could boot from DVD and restore your
system.
I/ve found this comparison article few days ago:
http://www.freewebs.com/disk_backup/ - useful information about
leading disk imaging software. (Acronis true image 9.0 and paragon
exact image 7.0 comparison).
Regards,
Andrew

It`s fatal to store a backup image on the 2nd partition Stefan.
If the drive `falls over` you`ve lost your system, AND your backup.
