I am very new to this group and have a question. First, I tried to Google
an answer and I also tried "search/find" to see if this question was asked
before.

Background:
I am running a Raid configuration 2 x 73 GB Raptor 10,000 RPM with a
"Second" 120GB hard drive. My motherboard is being replaced in 1 week due
to problems with it. Before this is done, I want to make a full backup of
my C: and D: drives. I bought an Acomdata External 160GB drive today and
was informed it have backup software with it, but of course it does not.
The full backup is also due to the fact I will be reformatting all drives
(at least the C: drive) and building up my software system from scratch
(YAY).

Problem/Question:
I want to save all my c and d drive data to the external drive. How do I do
this without compression? Should I just drag and drop? Primarily I know I
will drag and drop all my pictures into a special folder on the new drive
first and if it get's duplicated that is fine with me.
My question or problem is I do not know what I want to do, save every piece
of software on both, take individual files????? Do I need special backup
software?

Thank you,

MrRx

You can Dragndrop whole folders of your own pics,my docs etc Export your
address book etc. You can copy system files, if you want to, but if your
reinstalling it not worth bothering with. Just make sure you have any
special drivers or software you need Before you start. ..J

If you are striping, I have Ghost 2K3 and it says it won't do it and another
mode of RAID. Bad. I was planning on setting up RAID on this machine or one
of them. Unless someone knows a way around?
But worse yet, I'm now sowered on Norton. After years of putting off getting
Partition Magic, I learn they have added some junk to the program that makes
it act like xp for activation. One machine for sure. Having multiple
machines and running my own small net for the kids makes it a pain being my
own IT Guy.
Can't afford all these extra programs, especially high priced utilities for
each machine every couple of years because they decide to upgrade.
good luck

Keep it simple.

Raid 1 config striped.

Just use the older ghost version or the newer dos versions (7.5)
And just ghost whatever you want. Maybe I am not getting the problem.
Just make a bootable cd or USB this should work the only issues are with
multiboot environments.

Where do you create you stripe sets ???

Regards

R.
