Seagate STT8000A Tape Drive tape compatibility
|
|
|
| Hello,
I know the TR-4s are used in the STT8000A tape drives. Are the TR-3
compatible with that drive as well?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

I have that drive, and I think you need to use the TR-4 (sometimes called
TR-8).

| Ok thank you very much for the reply. That's what I was afraid of.
Now back to the drawing board.
Thanks again,
Tom

| Hi Tom:
The answer might not be so simple, depending on what you want to do.
Sometimes newer drives can read older tapes for restoring data. I don't
know what problem you are trying to solve.
Asking Technical Support is best. Seagate handed off tape drive support
to Certance; now I see Certance was acquired by Quantum...
http://www.certance.com/support/glossaryofterms/
I would start there if you want to dig deeper.
Good luck,
Wayne Scott
