Author ArcServe 11.1 - which formats can it read?

I have ArcServe 11.1 and some folks have sent me Backup Exec 8.x tapes
in the past, and Windows Backup tapes. AS has read them with no
problem. Recently got a BE 9.x tape and AS 11.1 doesn't seem to
recognize it.

Can anyone direct me to the "official" list of tape formats that
ArcServe 11.1 can read?

Thanks.

I can only say that ARCserve can read "foreign" tapes written to in a System
Independent Data Format (SIDF). To my knowledge only Novell's backup writes
in SIDF format.

Perhaps BE v8.x wrote in SIDF format and BE v9.x does not and hence
inability to restore using ARCserve v11.1.

I think I remember seeing this type of information (what tapes can be
restored) in the informational brochure for ARCserve. Please check
www.ca.com.

What is the error code and the message that ARCserve v11.1 reports (ARCserve
or Tape Server log) ? Is ARCserve recognize this tape created with BE v9.x
or is Tape Server showing <<BAD TAPE>> or something similar ?

Thanks for your reply. Turns out it was because I was using a
different tape drive than normal (an SDLT 320), and I hadn't downloaded
the latest drivers. After I did that, it worked fine.

regards, Chris
