Acronis True Image 8 Back-up Failure
|

| In trying to do a full back-up my C drive to another physical drive, I get
the screen at the end of the procedure that just stops, the title of the
screen is "Commit Pending Operations." Any ideas? I'm getting ready to junk
this software and go to the old reliable Ghost Dos Disc.
Thanks,
Len

Have you read the manual Len ?.
Quote
I plunged ahead and said to myself, "OK. What have I got to lose?" I
learned that my problems were all in semantics. The Commit Pending
Operations screen had been asking me if all was right so far, before
proceeding with the actual imaging process. Also, my vision of creating an
image had been solely the "copy" function, not including the second step of
delivery and "pasting". But to Acronis, an image is not a transient,
impermanent affair like my image in a mirror. It is the full reproduction
now stored. Thus their "image" is the newly created file, implanted at its
destination. Obviously, reading the manual beforehand would have delivered
me from this confusion.

This is from a recent query.

| What?
BTW, I've read the manual and I'm not a novice. After the proceed screen
which verifies what's getting backed up and to where, the Commit Pending
Operations screen comes up with only 2 choices: Cancel or Hide. There is
nothing to tell the program to "proceed" with the back-up!
I'd be glad to admit that I'm missing something or just stupid. Be my guest!

| My Bad,
It seems that the C drive has a small Fat 16 partition (the rest being
NTFS). If I try to back-up both, I run into the problem. No problem when I
just back-up the NTFS partition. Oh well, I guess that I missed something.
I'm not sure that the documentation addresses this.

Just a thought. Are you Imaging or Copying ?. I`ve only used the image
partition.
Tested it to another drive, and it worked perfectly.

| Well Old John,
It still doesn't work. I'm imaging not copying to a non-partitioned physical
second drive. BTW, I've had no problems before using the same procedure that
I'm using now.

Are you using the TI from your computer, or disc ?.
You can start Acronis and create an Acronis self booting disk.
You wouldn`t believe it !!. I just tried to run my TI from the system, and
it comes back
and says `can`t start RPC` (Remote Proceedural Call ).
But the CD works OK.
Come on Len, what have you done to my TI ?. <g>.

| Hey OJ,
TI runs fine from my computer except for the problem that I've mentioned. It
looks like you're going to have to post your RPC problem.Maybe you're
picking up remote bad vibes from my TI?
