It all depends on how full your 80 gig drive is.

Imagine you have a 80 gallon fish tank and want to transfer
it to a 13 gallon tank.

I think you mean re-activation; probably yes.
Whenever there is significant hardware changes, WPA (Windows Product
Activation) will be invoked.

I think you meant WPA (Windows Product Activation).
If you google "Windows Product Activation", you'll find a lot of hits,
including this one.
http://aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm

Here are some quotes.
<quote>
The WPA system checks ten categories of hardware:

Display Adapter
SCSI Adapter
IDE Adapter (effectively the motherboard)
Network Adapter (NIC) and its MAC Address
RAM Amount Range (i.e., 0-64mb, 64-128mb, etc.)
Processor Type
Processor Serial Number
Hard Drive Device
Hard Drive Volume Serial Number (VSN)
CD-ROM / CD-RW / DVD-ROM

[snip]

WPA asks for ‘votes’ from each of these ten categories:
‘Is the same device still around, or has there never been one?’
Seven Yes votes means all is well.
</quote>

I don't have Ghost 10; but cloneing drive is a common function
which Ghost 10 should have.

Cloning from a large (80 GB) drive to a small (13 GB) is possible if
- there is only a single partition on the source drive, and
- the stuffs on the source drive won't exceed the capacity of that
on the destination (i.e. 13 GB).

If you have more than one partitions on the source drive, you
will need some jugglings before doing the cloning.
But different programs may handle this situation differently.

You have internet connection, don't you?
Windows activation / re-activation is a few mouse clicks process,
if you have internet connection.

I've done that a few times for a few PC'es at work.

Personally I like Ghost up to Ghost 2003. Starting Ghost 9, it
needs .net framework. This is the main reason I don't like it.

I have Acronis TrueImage8, and I'm quite happy with that.
