I responded to Stomp's offer to upgrade BackupMYPc to PC Backup.
I think I have been taken for a ride.

I used to use BackupMyPc to backup some folders on a network server
that belonged to me, as well as files on my own PC (Windows XP Pro).

When I tried to do the same with PC Backup, it skips every single file
on the Network Drive. The log says "Could not open file".

Is this an attempt on their part to get me to upgrade to their Server
edition? If so, this is reprehensible - getting us to pay good money
to upgrade to a version that has been deliberately crippled.

I put in a support request but so far haven't heard anything. There is
nothing in the documentation or help that says it can't backup network
drives and no setting that refers to this.

Anyone got any ideas?

David

Do you mean it will not back up files stored on the Network Drive, or will
not read files already stored there? I thought I read their new version does
not work with backups from the old version. If that is true the new version
will not read your old backups (if that's what you mean).

Hope it works out for you.
