problem with ntbackup

| I'm using HP Dat 72 internal tape drive on Windows XP Pro.
Also I'm using the proper medias (C8010A) (36gb/72gb)
ntbackup recogizes them as 4mm dds. And i'm able to backup only about 35gb
of data. I have turned the hc on.
Has anyone also had this kind of problem?
Regards Taavi

There are 2 issues regarding HC, the HC jumper on the drive should be
disabled to allow the software to switch it on. I can't help it. If
you don't have much data to compress, HC is a bad thing. Try backing
up 5 DVD5 movies with HC enabled. You will run out of tape.
HC is compressing ALWAYS, even if there isn't something to compress.
Which gives 30% extra tapeloss. 10 GB data gives about 13 GB on tape.
My guess, disable HC on the drive and use software compression.
It works much better.
Kwello.
P.S. GB is to be written in capitals.
