Software for backing up files to DVDR

| Hello,
Here is my situation: I've reached a level in my data collection
(music files, pictures, etc.) that I need to start backing my hard
drive. I've decided that I want to back up my files via DVD+-R disks.
I envision this being a long term solution in that once I back up all
my current data I hoping to find a software program that can keep track
of what has been backed up and keep copies of all new data created
since the last back up.
Example would be last night I backed up my 50GB of music on DVDRs. In
two months from now say I've downloaded another 4GB and put the files
in different directories on a specific hard drive. Is there software
out there that can catalog all of the files that have already been
backed up and burn the "new" 4GB to a DVDR?
All of my data files reside on a second hard drive (D drive) while my
master drive runs all the applications and Windows2000 (C drive).
Thanks in advance,
Dza

Can't you simply put your newly downloaded files to d:\pending-backup\.
?
It is the same way your grandma sorted the washed clothes into a "clean"
bin and the dirty ones into a "dirty" bin.

| Any backup program should work. When you archive a file, the archive
bit get flipped "up". When you create a file or modify a file, the
archive bit is flipped "down". When you run an incremental backup, it
looks for files that have the bit set to "down", archives the file, and
then set the bit to "up". Unless you are running multiple back up
programs, thats all there is to it.

| Thanks for the replies. Any recommendations for a backup software app?
As for the temp directory idead that wouldn't work for me, I'd rather
put files in their proper directories first and have the software app
reconcile it later. I don't want to even think about the amount of
work it would take to move files from the tempt dir to the proper dir
after each backup.
