ONE base backup only, please!

| Using Norton Ghost 9 and a 250GB NAS drive, my plan is to back up a drive
that has about 100GB of data on it. I --wanted-- to set up a "base with
incrementals" backup. wherein I would do a base backup, then set up
automatic incremental backups every couple of days or so. Ghost 9 tells me
that I must schedule at least one base backup per week or month period.
This will overwhelm the NAS drive in a couple of weeks.
Why do more than one base when you've got up to date incremental backups?
Is there any way around this? It appears that I can make this happen by NOT
scheduling anything, and doing the incrementals manually, but I would rather
not have to remember to do that every other day.
