Author Views on how often and compression?????

Hi,
I recently got ghost 9 and am a newbie at back-up. Dont fully understand
the incremental side, Iwould imagine it is what change has taken place since
complete back up. Is full back-up once a week and incrementals nightly an
overkill, and what compression should I use. Do I delete the old complete
back-up, and create a new one each time.

Thoughts appreciated

I backup to external USB drives.
I do a full backup to each drive, then alternate between the drives at
intervals of my convenience.
I NEVER have both backup drives connected to the computer, or plugged in, at
the same time.

Depending on the backup software used, "incremental" backup could mean "back
up everything changed/added since the last full backup to the backup set
being used" or, more likely, "backup only those flies changed/added since
the most recent backup, be it incremental or full, to the backup set being
used".

I do incremental backups at least once per day.
I also copy critical files to a ZIP drives as I an working on a project.
