Can anyone help please - I'm desperate!! I have backed up my hard drive using
windows backup and restore onto an external hard drive. It has created the
file named Backup.bkf with a file size of about 3.8 gig (about right I would
guess). Now when I try to restore the file I get the message "The backup file
contains unrecognised data and cannot be used". I have tried using Stellar
Pheonix FAT and NTFS to recover the data and it shows all of the file names and
sizes within the backup file but I can't get them back. By the way, after
backing up the files, I reformatted my hard drive !!! I think I'm stuffed -
Yes ???? Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance - John.

Hi,

If you wish to resotre data Active@ Undelete might help you. It has
really great recover algorithm, so this tool never failed me. Really
amazing utility.

Backup Exec can read the files created by NTBackup. Heres a link to the
support site that tells you how to import the file and restore from it. The
document is specific to version 8.6, but should still apply to the latest
and greatest released versions.

Note: there is a restriction on restoring system state backed up on a
windows 2000 system with NT Backup. Give this a try and see if it helps.
